How do I attach the ThinLine grazing muzzle to a halter?
The package contains two types of ties. With the temporary ties you will investigate which adjustment is best. With the zip-ties you then attach the mask firmly to your halter. After purchasing the grazing muzzle you will receive clear instructions and tips by email.
Can my horse eat through the grazing muzzle?
With a correct adjustment this is not possible. Eating past it only occurs with a too loose adjustment. Want to be sure that your mask fits properly? We are happy to take a look with you via a Fittingscheck.
The ThinLine grazing muzzle fogs up when my horse wears it, is that a problem?
No, that is not a problem. This is often noticed when your horse has its head up. Due to gravity, the mask then leans more and closer to the nose. When your horse is grazing, which it will mainly do while wearing the grazing mask, there will be more space again. The grazing mask is transparent, which makes this more visible than with other grazing masks. If necessary, use a piece of fur to lift the mask a little more from the nose.
Is the Thinline also suitable for miniature horses and small Shetland ponies?
Size Mini/pony can be adjusted small, but check per pony whether the grazing muzzle can be adjusted small enough. If the muzzle remains too wide, ponies often cannot find the bottom opening properly. This makes eating difficult and frustrating. So it is always a matter of trying it on and seeing if it works.
Is it okay to wear a grazing muzzle 24/7?
A grazing muzzle is often used 24/7 when another form of housing is not possible and the health risks are too great to do nothing. Of course, it is not preferred. However, it is necessary to opt for a mild restriction. In addition, it is necessary to check your horse extra and keep a close eye on the feeding and supplement if necessary. Wearing a grazing muzzle 24/7 sometimes seems like a simple solution, but it really requires extra alertness and care. What should you pay extra attention to:
- The nutritional intake, supplement feed one or more times a day if necessary, without a grazing muzzle.
- The skin, chafing spots develop more quickly if the skin is not given rest.
- The teeth are also under continuous load, even with a soft rubber base.
How long does the ThinLine grazing muzzle last?
With grazing muzzles and also the ThinLine, the best balance between durability, comfort and safety is always considered. In addition, a grazing muzzle is a 'consumable product' due to the nature of the application and the intensive load. In general, you can assume that a grazing muzzle will last for about a pasture season. However, depending on the circumstances or the behaviour of your horse, this can be shorter or much longer.
In the case of the ThinLine grazing muzzle, you can assume the following averages:
- <3 months 3%
- 3-6 months 10%
- 6-12 months 62%
- >12 months 25%

After this, ThinLine Global will assess and handle your situation.
Unfortunately, the service life of a grazing muzzle cannot always be predicted in advance, due to different grazing behavior or an accident in a small corner. A very small part of the horses eats very greedily and with such a lot of pressure that, just like with other masks, damage can occur sooner than desirable with this mask. Unfortunately, the purchase price is no guarantee for a longer service life. There is always a balance between durability, safety and comfort, whereby the balance that suits the largest part of the horse population has been chosen. And fortunately, in the majority of cases it goes well for a very long time.
